Implants Intraoculaires

Preliminary findings from a retrospective comparative study on a novel hydrophobic C-loop monofocal intraocular lens

Scientific Reports volume 15, Article number: 11081 (2025)

Youngsub Eom, Jeongmin Kim, Hungwon Tchah & Kyungmin Koh

Conclusions : There was no difference in UDVA, UNVA, and objective optical quality between CT LUCIA and ZCB00 groups. On the other hand, UIVA was higher in the CT LUCIA group (0.19 ± 0.12 logMAR) compared to the ZCB00 group (0.32 ± 0.05 logMAR; p < 0.001). For all tested pupil sizes, the MTFRMS values for both CT LUCIA and ZCB00 IOLs were similar across defocus ranges from +1.00 to −0.75 D. However, the CT LUCIA IOL consistently exhibited higher MTFRMS values than the ZCB00 IOL at defocus levels from −1.25 to − 2.50 D. The CT LUCIA IOL provides comparable distance visual acuity and optical quality to ZCB00 IOL, with superior performance at intermediate distances.

Comparison of Short-Term Clinical Outcomes After Implantation of Two Monofocal, Aspheric Intraocular Lenses

Diagnostics 2024, 14(24), 2862

Jeewon Han, Yea Eun Lee, Nahyun Park, Chung Min Lee, Yoo Young Jeon, Hayoung Lee, Kyu Sang Eah, Yeji Yoon, Ho Seok Chung, Jae Yong Kim, Jiwon Jeong & Hun Lee

Conclusions : The visual acuity and defocus curves of the Lucia and Eyhance groups were comparable 1 month post-cataract surgery. The Lucia group’s superior contrast sensitivity and lower postoperative internal spherical aberration were due to differences in IOL designs, particularly the power variation patterns.

Preliminary Evaluation of Clinical and Non-Clinical Outcome Metrics in Patient Satisfaction After Implantation of a Non-Constant Aberration-Correcting Monofocal IOL

Clinical Ophthalmology 2025:19 795–806

Steven C Schallhorn, David Teenan, Jan A Venter, Julie M Schallhorn, Stephen J Hannan

Conclusions : A total of 97 patients were included, of whom 63.9% reported to be very satisfied and 30.9% were satisfied with postoperative vision. Only three patients were dissatisfied, and the reasons were mostly related to their postoperative clinical findings. In a multivariate logistic regression analysis, the patient’s age and postoperative uncorrected visual acuity were significant predictors of postoperative satisfaction. Some non-clinical and clinical variables were signaling potential trends in satisfaction, but a larger cohort of patients would be required to explore them.
Conclusion: Satisfaction of cataract patients implanted with a monofocal IOL remains high. When evaluating postoperative satisfaction, non-clinical factors and interactions with other patient-reported outcomes (visual phenomena or dry eye) should not be underestimated.

Phacoémulsification

Experimental study comparing 2 different phacoemulsification systems with intraocular pressure control during steady-state flow and occlusion break surge events

Journal de publication : Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery

Liste des auteurs : Fanney, Douglas ; Layser, Gregory S. ; K, Akhil R. ; Kohlhammer, Susanne ; Kübler, Christoph ; Seibel, Barry S.

Conclusion de l’étude : Quatera demonstrated slightly higher surge peak values and notably shorter surge duration times after occlusion break than Centurion. Quatera demonstrated better incision leakage compensation and lower passive vacuum than Centurion.

Comparative Clinical Study of Surgical Performance of Quatera 700 versus Centurion and Signature Pro Phacoemulsification Systems

Journal de publication : Clin Ophthalmol. 2024 Sep 23:18:2685-2695

Liste des auteurs : Sri Ganesh, Sheetal Brar, Supriya Sriganesh, Hemali D Bhavsar

Conclusion de l’étude : The new Quatera 700 system resulted in lesser TPT (Total Phaco Time), fluid turnover and phaco + I/A time than Signature Pro, while its performance was comparable to Centurion for these parameters. Moreover, the surgeon graded intra-operative chamber stability scoring was highest, when compared to the other two systems.
